Application
Procedures
Instructions:
The proposed Expert Meeting proposal will be sent out for review
and the applicants are expected to receive a decision within a
two-month period. The main criteria for evaluating the application
will be (a) the innovativeness of the research proposal, and (b)
the judged likelihood of the research proposal being funded as a
multilateral research program.
The application form should be filled out carefully. Please
consider the following points when preparing your application.
It is expected that the respective participants will have done
preliminary preparations and have conferred carefully and in some
detail prior to the meeting rather than have an ad hoc meeting of
10 to 12 people, who coincidentally share a converging interest.
The application therefore requires some preparatory exchanges that
have laid the groundwork for fruitful future collaboration (or
continuation of an existing collaborative enterprise).
It is also important to have clear evidence in the application that
a collaborative research program can be started between the
participants and that the respective research groups and their
facilities are well matched to conduct the research program.
The applicant can choose the location for the meeting. The ESF will
cover up to maximally 12000 Euro for such a meeting and this sum is
designated to cover food, travel, and accommodation costs of all
participants. Participants from outside Europe (not more than
2 per Expert Meeting) cannot be supported from these moneys.
Alternative funding (which cannot be guaranteed) will be sought for
non-European participants if the proposed meeting is expected to
have participants from outside Europe. An alternative is of course
that these participants cover their own costs.
